Tashkent Medical Academy is one of the leading universities in the country that trains highly qualified medical personnel. It was established by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 29, 2005 No. 178 in Tashkent on the basis of the 1st and 2nd Tashkent State Medical Institutes. Improving the organization and quality of training of highly qualified medical personnel of the Academy, creating the necessary educational and material base in accordance with modern requirements of the educational process, enriching it with new content based on the widespread introduction of advanced educational technologies, training of future specialists was established to ensure that the occupation was closely linked to the occupation. The Academy has 5 faculties.
The Tashkent Medical Academy has 58 departments, postgraduate studies, central clinical laboratories, a 2,200-bed clinic, a department of scientific medical information, a museum, an academic lyceum, a library (more than 800,000 works), a publishing house and a printing house. There are currently about 7,000 students, as well as more than 2,800 resident students in 40 majors. It has additional clinical bases in major hospitals in Tashkent. The Academy has 1,100 teachers, including about 10 academicians of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and international academies, more than 200 doctors of sciences, professors, more than 600 candidates of sciences and associate professors. The Tashkent Medical Academy has 6 specialized councils for the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations. The Academy publishes scientific collections, monographs and methodical manuals.
